Hi-Res Pics to serious buyers. The Seiko SARB065 is a watch made in collaboration with one of Japan's finest mixologists, occasionally dubbed as "Nippon's top bartender", Ishigaki Shinobu. Not what you'd often expect from a partnership with a watchmaker, but this led to cocktail-inspired watches. They were first released in 2010, then later on in 2016 and finally the current generation, when they were added to the Presage line. The SARB065 or "Cool" was among the firsts. It was released together with the SARB066 (nicknamed "Dry") and the SARB068 (called "Sweet"). The SARB065 is by far the most popular one out of the three and for good reason too. It is definitely the "coolest" of the bunch, including the current generation Cocktail Times. Case features: stainless steel, exhibition caseback. Dial: Guilloche sunburst dial, date display. Strap: High sheen black leather, deployant clasp. The watch's case is rather simple, with a domed crystal that lends to a vintage feel.

Even in the presence of an interesting dial, the Cocktail Time's simplicity is what makes it beautiful. The 6R15C movement is solid and keeps time decently. I found that the specifications advertised were accurate. The current generation of Cocktail Times uses the 4R series of movements. I haven't had hands-on experience with one of them so I don't feel comfortable commenting on its quality vs.

The 6R series of movements. The 6R movements are generally heralded as higher quality movements though which would partially explain the differing price points. The hand-winding feels crisp with little resistance, and the seconds hand hacks cleanly. I don't think these features are important in an automatic timepiece but some people enjoy them so here they are.

Because of the domed crystal, the watch sits rather tall at 13mm and has a surprising wrist presence at 40mm in diameter. Typical dress watches are significantly smaller but I find that larger wrist presence doesn't detract from the watch. In fact, a larger dial shows off its most iconic feature, the guilloche sunburst dial.

The radial sunburst texture on the dial reflects light in very dynamic ways. Closely examining the watch under different lighting conditions is an extremely interesting experience and sort of a mini-game of this watch. Which angle looks the best? The camera does a poor job of capturing the bright flashy reflections that virtually resonate from this dial.

It's one of those watches that you'll have to see in person to fully appreciate. Additionally, the blue seconds hand is a nice subtle splash of color in a sea of white and silver accents.
